Doris McLellan Competition Doris McLellanIt seems like no time at all since the WMC announced the inaugural Doris McLellan Competition for Solo Performance with the WSO, 2006. We are now gearing up to present this fantastic opportunity for the third time in 2010. The semi- final auditions will be March 27, 2010 at the Art Gallery and the Finals Friday, April 16, 2010. The venue TBA. We will be inviting applications from young Manitoba Musicians in all musical disciplines to compete for 3 prizes totalling $20,000., and a Concert with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra to boot. The endowment from the estate of the late Doris McLellan provides the prizes, $10,000 for the first place winner, $6,000, and $4,000, for second and third. This is the largest musical prize awarded in Manitoba to date. The Concert with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is added icing on the cake. Winnipeg is known across Canada as a Centre of Culture.
