Scholarships

The Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg offers 5 scholarships to aspiring instrumentalists and vocalists to further their musical training. This year, the scholarships total $8 000.00.

The Scholarship auditions are held on a Saturday in May at the Desautels Faculty of Music, Eva Clare Hall, University of Manitoba. Date TBA

Auditions begin at 9:00 a.m. with three adjudicators present. In order to ensure that an audience is present for the applicants on the day of their auditions, members of the public are invited to attend and are welcome at any time. The entrance door is located on the north side of Eva Clare Hall. Free Parking is available in the parking lot on the east side of the Faculty of Music building.

Completed applications are due 4 weeks in advance of the audition date TBA.

The Scholarship Winners perform each year in December, as part of the regular concert season while most students are at home for the holidays. The concert takes place at the Muriel Richardson Auditorium of the Winnipeg Art Gallery. After the performances, awards are presented and individual and group photographs are taken.  Read more about the 2011 Winners

The scholarship program has been a feature of the Women's Musical Club mandate since 1915. The names of the winners and the amounts of the awards are listed in a pamphlet which is updated yearly.
