Winners of the first Doris McLellan Competition 2006
Where are they now?

 Sara Hahn, First Place Winner 2006 is currently principal flute for the Calgary Symphony. She was heard on CBC’s Radio2 Debut Series Recital in a live recording, April 5, 2007.

Sergei Saratovsky, Second Place Winner 2006, has completed his Masters in Piano Performance at Brandon University under Alexander Tselyakov, and  is currently a doctoral candidate at UBC, Vancouver, where he studies with renowned pianist Jane Coop. Sergei has placed second in the Eckhardt- Gramatte National Competition, and was a semi-finalist at the Honens International Piano Competition. He recently performed with Virtuosi Concerts at Echardt –Gramatte Hall in Winnipeg along with Professor Tselyakov and several other accomplished students.

Ellen Wieser, also second place winner 2006, will receive her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Cincinnati, College – Conservatory of Music in  Spring, 2007. Ellen has been accepted as a resident for three months in a Young Artist Program at Glimmerglass Opera in New York where she will be performing and receiving instruction in such non-performance skills as audition techniques, role preparation, and the business aspects of managing a career.  When possible auditions are scheduled on the spot for administrators and agents. Many of the young artists are offered roles or representations as a result of these auditions.
