The WMC McLellan Competition
              for Solo Performance with
      the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra

PURPOSE: To provide funds to advanced young Manitoba musicians who are pursuing performance careers.

AWARDS: The funds available for the WMC McLellan Competition for Solo Performance with Orchestra are the interest accumulated from an investment at the Winnipeg Foundation. Amounts will vary from one biennial competition to the next, but will be between $15,000 and $20,000, divided among 3 finalists. The first prize winner will receive $10,000. The three finalists will also have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the WSO. Following the Final Concert, the prizes will be awarded.

SELECTION PROCESS
Applications will be reviewed by the Competition committee to make sure that all criteria have been fulfilled. Cheques will be returned only if an application is not accepted.

Preliminary Round CDs will be assessed by jurors who will choose the best performances in their particular discipline. Twelve applicants will be chosenĀ for live auditions (not necessarily from each discipline). Semi-Finalists will be notified by mid-February. more
